Cumberland City Council Allocates Money For Annual Halloween Parade

The South Cumberland Business Association’s annual Halloween Parade is less than a month away, and although the city will once again make a contribution to the event- but the money won’t come from hotel/motel taxes. Cumberland City Council voted 4-0 this week to allocate $1,000 to the group by transferring money from a ‘travel’ account to a ‘promotions’ account. Councilman Nick Scarpelli, a longtime member of the South Cumberland Business and Civic Association which organizes the parade, abstained from the vote. In the past, hotel/motel tax funds have been used to support the parade. Councilman David Kauffman, ideally those funds would be targeted for more tourism related event and activities…
