Cumberland EMS Decision Not Sitting Well With Commissioners/Emergency Personnel

While there was no official response from Allegany County officials when they met for the first time since the city of Cumberland announced it would be terminating mutual aid agreements in the next 90 days- the action clearly has not sat well with the commissioners or county emergency personnel.  The city took the action, it said, as a result of the increasing number of calls that city ambulance crews are getting from outlying areas such as Oldtown and Westernport.  No comments came from the county commissioners during the most recent public session, but county administrator David Eberly, on several occasions, pointed to assistance- financial and otherwise- that the county contributes to the Cumberland EMS system. He also made a point of praising the fiscal management approach of Dick DeVore, chief of the Allegany County emergency services division…
