Cumberland Featured On “Jeopardy”

“You can’t buy that kind of publicity” is an old show business cliché- and that is exactly how Allegany County Tourism Director Barb Buehl described a segment featuring the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad last week on the game show Jeopardy. It was back in May when legendary game show host Alex Trebek visited Allegany County to fulfill one of his “bucket list” items- to drive a steam locomotive. He did so on that day, engineering a 1916 Baldwin steam engine, from Cumberland to the Frostburg Depot- along the Great Allegheny Passage. After several months of editing, taped highlights and a category dedicated to steam engines were included on the Jeopardy program that aired this past Friday evening.
