Cumberland gas prices dropping, but still way above state average

December 29th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

As the year-end holiday season comes to a close, drivers will be paying the cheapest gas prices for 2018, thanks in part to the lowest crude oil prices for the year.

Today’s national gas price average is $2.29 per gallon, which is down six cents in the last week, 24 cents in the last month, and 19 cents lower than this time last year. Today’s average price is 20 cents cheaper than on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018.

At $2.25 per gallon, Maryland’s average price is three cents lower than last week, 16 cents less than last month, and 22 cents per gallon less than last year on this date. Some drivers across the state can find gas at or just pennies above $2.00 per gallon.

Maryland drivers will be ringing in the New Year paying the lowest gas prices for New Year’s Day since January 1, 2016 when the state’s average price was $1.97 per gallon.

Just returned from a holiday visit to central Ohio and, while there, paid $ 1.89 per gal. This price was available at numerous locations.
