Cumberland Police Make Drug Arrest During Traffic Stop

On 3/22/16 at approx. 1655hrs, an officer from the Cumberland Police Department affected a traffic stop on a vehicle for a lane change violation on South Centre Street near Queen City Drive.  The officer made contact with the operator.  Upon obtaining the information needed for the traffic offense the officer requested an on duty police K-9 officer.  The K-9 officer arrived and conducted a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle.  The sniff resulted in a positive alert for the presence of the odor of drugs.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.  During the search several items were located inside the vehicle resulting in the arrest of both the operator Gregory Allen Sirk and the passenger Gregory Gavin Sirk.  Both subjects were transported to the police headquarters for processing. The subjects were released pending trial in District Court.

Gregory Allen Sirk, age 41 of Romney, WV

Charges: Possession of drug paraphernalia not marijuana, possession of marijuana less than 10 grams, and driving on a suspended out of state license

Gregory Gavin Sirk, age 23 of Romney, WV

Charges: Possession of drug paraphernalia not marijuana
