Cumberland Man Arrested On Theft & Other Charges

On December 19, 2016 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Gregory Neal Baumgardner, age 56 of Cumberland, Maryland.  On July 26, 2016 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was contacted at Police Headquarters in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle.  The victim reported to police that during the early morning hours of July 26, 2016 an unknown suspect entered his vehicle and stole numerous personal items.  On December 13, 2016, officers were contacted by the victim after he located some of his stolen property at J&S Pawn in Ridgeley, West Virginia.  Officers responded to J&S Pawn and learned that on August 8, 2016, Gregory Neal Baumgardner, entered the Pawn Shop and sold several items that belonged to the victim.  A further search of pawn records revealed that Mr. Baumgardner pawned the remaining stolen items on August 17, 2016.  As a result of this investigation, charges were applied for at District Court resulting in a warrant being issued for the arrest of Mr. Baumgardner.   Mr. Baumgardner was served with the warrant and taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  Baumgardner was released on his own personal recognizance.

Charge: Rogue and Vagabond and Theft less than $1,000.
