On Saturday at 2:10 am, Cumberland Police Officers responded to N. Mechanic Street at Market Street for a roll over motor vehicle accident.  When officers arrived on the scene they found a 2000 Toyota passenger car on its top in the middle of the roadway.  Officer investigating the accident determined that the vehicle was traveling Southbound on N. Mechanic Street. The vehicle then left the roadway striking the curb and then a power pole. The vehicle continued Southbound rolling on its top striking a parked vehicle where it came to rest.  The driver of the vehicle Ryan Hewitt, age 31 of Cumberland, MD, was transported by Cumberland Ambulance to the Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.  Hewitt was charged with negligent driving, failing to reduce speed to avoid collision, and DUI related charges.
