The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced on Thursday that Christopher Alan Platter, 33 of Cumberland, was sentenced in Allegany County Circuit Court following convictions for two counts of robbery.  The Honorable Jeffrey Getty sentenced Platter to thirty (30) years in the Maryland Department of Corrections suspending fifteen (15) years of the sentence.

In late December 2017, Platter participated in two robberies in Cumberland.  The investigation revealed that on December 27, 2017 he had robbed a man on Lincoln Street after displaying a toy gun.  Two days later on December 29, 2017, he robbed the 7-Eleven Store located on Maryland Avenue in Cumberland, displaying the same toy gun.  Platter was arrested later that day after investigators executed a search and seizure warrant at his residence, and located a ski mask and toy gun.  The motive for the robberies was to procure money to purchase illicit drugs.

The case was investigated by the C3I Unit and Cumberland City Police Department.  Assistant State’s Attorney Erich Bean prosecuted the case.  Platter was represented by attorney Frederick Lester.
