Cumberland PD Issues Statement On Morning Lock In Status

Cumberland Police Chief Charles Hinnant issued a statement this afternoon concerning the need to "lock in" students at Allegany High and Braddock Middle Schools this morning.

Early Monday, the Cumberland Police Department received information of a perceived threat observed on a social media account. Officers, along with investigators from the C3I Unit responded to Allegany High School and Braddock Middle School to notify school administrators and initiate a joint investigation.

As a precautionary measure, both schools were placed in lock-in which permits for school activities within building to continue. Several students at both schools were contacted and interviewed. At this time school administration is handing the incident according to their policy and both schools were placed back in normal operations by 11:30 AM.  

Investigation disclosed there was no imminent threat to students or staff.
