Cumberland Police Have Busy Wednesday

On January 25, 2017 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Nicole Lee Early, age 27 of Cumberland, Maryland.  On January 13, 2017 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Martin’s Market located at 739 Park Street for a theft of a purse.  During an investigation into the matter officers learned from the victim that her purse was stolen from her grocery cart while she was shopping.  Information received at the scene as well as video surveillance footage led to a suspect being developed.  As a result of this investigation, charges were applied for on Ms. Early at District Court.  Early was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Early was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.

Charges: Obtaining property of a vulnerable adult, Theft of Credit Card, Theft less than $1,000 and Fraud.

 

Arrest Warrant Served

On January 25, 2017 Cumberland City Police served an Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Warrant on Tyrell Cameron Hyatte, age 23 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued after Hyatte was found to be driving on a suspended license.  Hyatte was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Hyatte was released on his own personal recognizance.

Charge: Driving on a suspended license and privilege.

 

Arrest Warrants Served

On January 25, 2017 Cumberland City Police served two arrest warrants on Natasha Phoebe Carbaugh, age 28 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The first warrant charged Carbaugh with failing to appear in District Court on drug related charges.  The second warrant was issued through the Allegany County Sheriffs Office for theft.  Carbaugh was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Carbaugh was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

Charge: Failure to appear and Theft.

 

Arrest Warrant Served

On January 25, 2017 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Tammy Lynn Keller, age 49 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued by a Circuit Court Judge after Keller failed to appear in court.  Keller was processed, served and taken directly to the Allegany County Detention Center where she was held without bond.

Charge: Bench Warrant failure to appear.

 

Disorderly/Trespassing Arrest

 

On January 26, 2017 at 0144 hrs. Officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Sheetz Convenience Store located at 214 Greene Street for a disturbance complaint.  As officers arrived at the location they observed a white male yelling at a Sheriff’s Office Deputy inside the store.  Before officers contacted the subject they were approached by a witness who observed the white male doing something with the flag pole.  Officers made contact with the subject identified as John Readd.  Readd was yelling about President Trump’s recent election to the Presidency.  He was angry about the election results.  He said that he turned the US flag upside down in protest of the election.  Several other witnesses in the area also observed Readd’s actions and observed him yelling and turning the flag upside down.  As a result of this incident, Mr. Readd was placed under arrest at the scene.  While officers were attempting to place Mr. Readd into custody he resisted their efforts and refused to cooperate with officers.  Mr. Readd was eventually secured and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Mr. Read was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Readd was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.

Charges: Trespassing, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

 

Theft Arrests

 

On January 25, 2017 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Rite Aid located at 520 Virginia Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they were advised by store management that Harold Virgil James 3rd and Acacia Louise Spencer entered the store and started placing food items inside a backpack.  When confronted by management both subjects fled the store without paying for the items.  Security footage was reviewed by the officers and they confirmed that James and Spencer were the suspects who committed the crime.  Both subjects were later located at a residence on Pennsylvania Avenue.  They were both charged and issued criminal citations.
