Cumberland Police Investigate Hit & Run Incidents

The Cumberland Police Department is investigating two separate hit & run crashes and needs public assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the incidents. One crash occurred in the first block of Columbia Street sometime during the daylight hours of September 8th. The suspect vehicle struck a parked car on the street before fleeing the area. The second crash occurred at the intersection of Park Street and Williams Street at approximately 650pm on September 8th. The victim in this crash stated that a male subject driving a white Chevrolet Cavalier struck his vehicle in the rear. He stated that the subject than left the area without providing him with the needed information. Anyone having any information about either incident is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Department or Crime Solvers.

The Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Whitney Hope Shue. Officers responded to Interstate 68 E/B near the Willowbrook Road exit for a report of a hit & run crash. The vehicle being driven by Shue left the scene of the crash without providing the needed information for the crash. Officers were later able to contact Shue who admitted to being involved in the crash but failing to contact the police or provide the information needed for the investigation. The officers investigating the crash applied for charges at the District Court Commissioner’s Office and a summons was issued. The summons was served and Shue will have a trial date which will be scheduled at District Court at a later date.

Charges: Failure to stop at a property damage crash, Failure to remain at the scene of a accident involving vehicle damage, Failure of vehicle driver involved in a crash to give insurance policy information, and Failure of vehicle driver in accident to report property damage to nearest police agency
