Cumberland Police Make Arrest in Arson Case

On Saturday, Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant for arson. 

The warrant was issued by District Court in reference to an incident that took place on August 26th, 2019, when officers responded to a Jane Frazier Village residence to check on the welfare of 58 year old Raymond Anthony Osbourne.

When officers arrived, they observed that the interior of the residence was on fire. Officers quickly made entry and extinguished a pile of clothing that Osbourne later admittedly set on fire in an attempt to end his life. Osbourne was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Center for treatment and an application for charges was filed with District Court.

Osbourne was charged with 1st, and 2nd degree arson, and malicious destruction of property over $500. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a temporary commitment.
