On 8/20/18 at approximately 3:00 AM the Cumberland City Police Department was dispatched to the single digit block of East First Street for a disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to Markel Davon Whitfield. While speaking to Mr. Whitfield officers observed a handgun beside him. Mr. Whitfield was placed under arrest at that time. Mr. Whitfield was searched incident to arrest and was found to be in possession of several baggies of crack cocaine individually wrapped. Mr. Whitfield’s history was run through the Maryland State Police Gun Center and was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Mr. Whitfield is waiting for his initial appearance in District Court as of this writing.
Arrested – Markel Davon Whitfield Charges – Illegal Possession of Ammunition, Firearm in use of Drug Trafficking Crime, CDS Distribution with Firearm, Firearm use in a Felony Crime, Firearm Possession with a Felony Conviction, CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession not Marijuana, Disturbing the Peace, and Disorderly Conduct.
