Cumberland Police Make Several Assault Arrests

On November 27, 2018 at approximately 1023am officers were dispatched to a Baltimore Street residence for a report of a disturbance.  Officers arrived on the scene making contact with a female subject who reported that she had been assaulted prior to their arrival. Officers made contact with the other subject involved in the disturbance and spoke with him about the alleged incident.  Officers discovered from their investigation and the visible signs of injuries to the victim, that Donald Ray Crawford Jr. did assault the victim. Officers placed Crawford under arrest without incident. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed.  Crawford was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial.

Charge: Assault 2nd degree

On November 27, 2018 at approximately 456pm officers were dispatched to a Memorial Avenue residence for a domestic assault involving a metal pipe.  Officers arrived separating the parties involved and securing the weapon. Officers made contact with the male victim, the suspect and another witness who was inside when the assault occurred.  The suspect Chantee Marie Carey was detained pending further investigation. The Cumberland Fire Department Ambulance was summoned to treat the victim. Officers learned that the victim had been struck several times with the pipe causing the injuries.  Carey was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Carey was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where she was held without bond.

Charges: Assault 1st & 2nd degree, and Dangerous weapon with intent to injury

Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Batricia Lynn Nave for an assault that occurred on 11/10/2018 at a Baltimore Avenue residence.  Nave attempted to enter the residence to assault the victim inside. Nave did assault the victim but was unable to gain entry into the residence. The victim contacted the police but Nave fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.  An application of charges was filed at District Court leading to the warrant. Nave was taken before the District Court Commissioner and she was held without bail.

Charges:  Attempted home invasion, Attempted burglary, Affray, Disorderly conduct, Assault 2nd degree, and Disorderly conduct
