Cumberland Police Make Theft & Warrant Arrests

On January 10, 2017 Cumberland Police Officers served a criminal warrant on Chad Lee Wickard.  The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 27, 2016.  Cumberland Police Officers were called to a Walnut Street residence for the report of a theft of power tools.  Officers conducted an investigation and determined Wickard to be the suspect.  Charges were filled at the Allegany County District Court.  Wickard was placed under arrest and was transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was released on his personal recognizance.

Theft Arrest

On January 10, 2017 at approximately 11:08 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to a Park Street business for a reported theft.  Upon their arrival the Officers contacted the store manager who stated he observed the suspect, Franklin Wheeler, remove items from a shelf and placed them in his jacket.  Wheeler allegedly left the store without purchasing the items.  The store manager contacted Wheeler and he voluntarily returned inside the store.  Officers then contacted Wheeler and placed him under arrest.  He was transported to the Cumberland Police Department where he was charged and processed.  He was then released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.
