Cumberland Police Make Warrant & Assault Arrests Wednesday

On Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 the Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant issued by District Court and charged Bruce Allen Williams with 1st and 2nd degree assault.  The warrant was issued in reference to an incident that occurred back February 12th, 2020 at a Virginia Avenue residence.  On that date, police responded for the report of an assault.  When they arrived, contact was made with a female victim who told them that Williams had grabbed her by the throat while holding a knife in his opposite hand.  Williams at the time, also had self-inflicted injuries and was taken to the hospital for those injuries.   He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center for the warrant to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.

Assault Arrest

 

On Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department responded to Avirett Avenue residence for a disturbance.  When officers arrived, contact was made with female victim who stated that Richard James Hupp Jr, grabbed her by the face causing her mouth and nose to bleed.  Officers did observe injuries consistent with her statement.  Hupp was charged with assault and taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond review.  He was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.

Bench Warrant Served

On Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Jon Christopher Vanetta Jr for failing to appear trial at District Court on February 18th, 2020.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released own personal recognizance pending trial.
