Cumberland Police Serve Arrest Warrant And Makes Theft Arrests

On May 14, 2019, the Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant on Lavesta James-Nines, age 32, of Cumberland. The Arrest Warrant stemmed from May 12th investigation in a theft compliant. During the investigation, officers learned that James-Nines had been at a residence in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue with the victim.  While at the residence, James-Nines took the vehicle keys unbeknownst to the victim and left area in the victim’s vehicle. Officers learned hours later that the victim’s vehicle was abandoned in the area of Humbird and Saint Mary Street.  They then responded to the area and located the vehicle.  Upon officers checking the contents of the vehicle with the victim several items were reported stolen.  At this time an Application for Charges was filed in District Court and an Arrest Warrant was issued for James-Nines for motor vehicle/ unlawful taking, theft $1,500 to $25,000, and theft $100 to $1,500.  James-Nines was served with the Warrant and taken to District Court for her Initial Appearance. Following her hearing she was released on her personal recognizance to await trial.

On Tuesday May 14, 2019, at 2:10 pm, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 1000 block of Industrial Boulevard for a theft.  Upon arrival officers spoke to employees who advised that Tammy Keller, age 51 of Cumberland, Maryland, had stolen an item from the store. Officers learned that Keller had purchased items and then attempted to hide another item under what she already purchased. Keller was contacted and issued her a Criminal Citation for theft under $100.  She was then released pending trial in District Court. 

On Tuesday May 14, 2019, 1:38 pm, officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a theft.  Upon arrival officers spoke to employees who advised that Justin Parr, age 29 of Frostburg, Maryland, had stolen items from the store.  Officer learned that Parr had placed items in his pockets and left the store without paying.  Officers contacted Parr and issued him a Criminal Citation for theft under $100.  He was then released pending trial in District Court.
