Cumberland Police Serve Bench Warrant; Make Assault Arrest

On Monday, May 27th, 2019 the Cumberland City Police arrested Jeffrey Duane Hummel, age 19, of Cumberland MD. Hummel was arrested on two outstanding bench warrants for violating his conditions of probation previously ordered by the court. Hummel was taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held on $750.00 bond.

***Adult Arrest***

On Monday, May 27th, 2019, the Cumberland City Police responded the 100 block of Sunrise Circle for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon the officer’s arrival on scene, officer’s made contact with a female victim who advised that she had gotten into an argument inside the home with Christopher William Heidel. She alleged that the argument escalated and Heidel assaulted her, throwing her to the ground. It was also alleged that Heidel had damaged property inside the home during the incident. Based on the investigation and the victim’s signs of injury, Officers contacted Heidel and informed him he was under arrest. At this time, Heidel shoved one officer and attempted to flee from the scene. Heidel was unable to escape from the scene, but continued to resist arrest and attempt to assault officers affecting the arrest. Once officers were able to take Heidel into custody, he was transported to police headquarters for processing. Heidel was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance where he was held without bond
