Cumberland prices at the pump steady

June 10th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Gas prices continue to trend downward following the Memorial Day holiday. The nationwide and Maryland averages are now lower than last year’s prices for the first time this year, and are at the lowest cost for this date since 2005. The moderate decline in gasoline prices is typical following a long holiday weekend, while low crude oil prices and strong gasoline inventories are supporting the dip in prices. Today’s national average price of a gallon of gasoline is $2.35, a decrease of three cents over last week; however, a penny increase compared to last month.  The nationwide average is two cents less than last year’s price on this date. Maryland’s average cost is two cents lower than the national average at $2.33 per gallon, which reflects a four cents decrease from a week ago and no change compared to last month’s price. The state average is a penny less than last year. In Cumberland the price is holding steady at $2.42
