Cumberland Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrests

On 02/08/15 at 12:44am an Officer with the Cumberland Police Dept observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Henderson Ave near Front St with an equipment violation. The Officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the operator. Upon affecting the traffic stop, the Officer was able to observe an object being thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle onto the roadway. The item was recovered and was determined to be suspected heroin. As a result 18 year old Bryssa Wickard of Cumberland and 25 year old Travis Shears of Baltimore were placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department where they were each charged with one count of possession other than marijuana and one count of possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Both subjects were taken for an initial appearance at District Court with Wickard being held on $5,000 and Shears being held on $40,000. Both subjects were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending their next court appearance.
