Cumberland Woman Charged With Child Abuse After Throwing Brick At Son

On Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence on Columbia Avenue for an assault complaint.  When officers arrived, they learned that a 12 year old male was apparently struck in the back with a brick by his mother.  Upon question the mother, identified as Latoya N. Taylor, she admitted to throwing the brick but told officers that she didn’t mean to hit her son.  The juvenile male complained of an injury to his back but did not require medical attention.  Latoya Taylor was arrested and transported to the Cumberland City Police Station for processing.  She was later taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond review and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on an $8,500 bond.  Child Protective Services were notified and responded to the scene.

Charges:  2nd degree child abuse, 2nd degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Held on $8,500 bond.
