Drivers, both locally and across the country continue to have a December to remember at the gas pump, as prices decline for yet another week ahead of one of the most traveled holidays of the year. Lower oil prices are helping to drive down gas prices again this week, with the commodity losing more than $6.00 per barrel over last week. Today’s national gas price average is $2.35 per gallon, which is down four cents in the last week, down 25 cents in the last month, and nine cents lower than this time last year. Maryland’s average price is seven cents less than the national average at $2.28 per gallon. The state average is three cents lower than last week, 18 cents less than last month, and 13 cents per gallon less than last year on this date. AAA surveyed metro areas across the state are noticing weekly price drops ranging from two cents per gallon to as much as 10 cents in Cumberland.
