County has balanced budget

According to Finance Director Jason Bennett, cuts in county expenditures and vetoing budget increase requests by outside agencies and the Allegany County Board of Education will be used to balance the Allegany County fiscal year 2016 budget. Bennett told the commissioners however that even with the cuts, the county will have to use nearly a million dollars from the general fund to balance the budget, said Jason Bennett, county finance director. The first public hearing on the proposed budget was held Thursday evening during the regular meeting of the commissioners.  The county’s 2016 budget, at $84.5 million, will exceed the 2015 budget by 2.9 percent. The 2015 budget was about $82.1 million.
