Debate Over O’Malley’s General Assembly Record

Supporters look upon the eight Maryland General Assembly sessions presided over by democratic Governor Martin O’Malley as among the more progressive and productive in recent history; while opponents see an era of a runaway extreme liberal agenda that will hurt the state in the long run. O’Malley, who is considering a run at the White House in 2016, has pushed for and received one of the more strict gun control laws in the nation; same sex marriage; immigration reform and an increase in the minimum wage- while at the same time not standing in the way of efforts to expand gambling and decriminalizing marijuana. While each and every one of those items saw divisive, mostly partisan debates and much controversy- the Governor describes his successes as advancing the will of the people by way of a cooperative approach by the legislature…
