The decision to close schools based on what can often times be unpredictable weather forecasts is one of the bigger challenges of the job for school superintendents. That was the situation on Sunday for Allegany County School Superintendent Dr David Cox as he studied reports of the pending hurricane weather and its possible impacts on western Maryland. Even before any significant rain hit the region, the call was made to close schools for Monday.
