Decorative Marble From Memorial Hospital To Go To Allegany Museum

Late last month, the Cumberland mayor and City Council announced that a New York firm had been awarded the project to demolish for old Memorial Hospital and medical buildings at a cost of $1.5 million. City Engineer John Difonzo said that the time, that making use of salvageable materials like copper and other items was the main reason low bidders were able to keep their bids low. During this week’s council meeting, City Administrator Jeff Rhodes said that the decorative marble facade with pillars and ornate etching is expected to go to the Allegany Museum for a future display…
