Deep Creek Dunk today

February 20th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

It's that time of year again, when participants across the state plunge into the icy waters of Deep Creek Lake to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland. The 18th annual Deep Creek Dunk, held at Uno’s Chicago Bar and Grill, is scheduled for Saturday. The Cumberland Times News reports that last year, the dunk raised $165,000, said Jason Schriml, vice president of communications for Special Olympics Maryland. Special Olympics Maryland provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports events for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Maryland State Police and Natural Resources Police host the annual event. The Deep Creek Dunk is the second part of the Special Olympics Maryland winter water series. It  kicked  off last night with Goosebumps & Grapes – Wine Tasting and Bonfire. The dunk begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
