Comments made this week by members of the Canal Place Development Authority projected a dire need for the governor to include $1.5 million in his capital budget for the Footer Dye Works project. Executive Director Dee Dee Ritchie said the development project, which includes a brewpub and restaurant, would be “dead in the water” if the state funding for infrastructure improvements are were not approved. Delegate Jason Buckel tells WCBC News that its late in the game to attempt to secure such a large funding commitment from the governor- but he adds that he doesn’t think the project’s future hinges on the whether or not state dollars are available in the next few weeks.
