Del. Buckel Says Changes To General Assembly Leadership May Not Bode Well For Western Maryland

When Maryland lawmakers convene in Annapolis for the 2020 session of the General Assembly in a little more a month- it will do so with new leaders in both chambers. With the passing of longtime House Speaker Michael Busch earlier this year- and the recent announcement that Mike Miller, the longest serving president of the Senate in Maryland history, would step down for health reasons- a new leadership team will be in place for the first time in decades.  Senator Bill Ferguson, a Baltimore City Democrat will be the new Senate President; while Adrienne Jones, a Baltimore County Democrat will lead the House. Those changes might not bode well for Western Maryland according to Delegate Jason Buckel. He tells WCBC News that with two more liberal, Baltimore based representatives heading the House and Senate- the mostly Republican, rural Allegany and Garrett counties may not garner much attention…

    Of course this is true. So the fix is simple. Elect democrats to represent us so that we have a voice and a seat at the table. Simple!
