Del McCoury Gives A Hand Constructing Home For Local Family

Continuing a commitment he made almost a decade ago to give back to the community, bluegrass legend Del McCoury was a hands on participant this week in helping to construct a Habitat for Humanity home for a local family in Cumberland. McCoury, his sons Robbie and Ronnie and dozens of volunteers are assisting with the one-week construction project known as a “Blitz Build,” which began Monday. The home is being constructed at 505 Holland St. in the city’s North End. In just a few weeks the family will return to the area for the 9th annual DelFest event at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. Habitat for Humanity is just one way the McCoury family has given back over the years as thousands of dollars in donations have been made a wide array of local nonprofit groups. Del tells WCBC News that being a partner with the community was a goal from day one…
