District 1C Delegate Mike McKay says despite reports to the contrary, things are actually starting to improve dramatically at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. A document received by WCBC News noted that the railroad had been experiencing some financial difficulties and at one point had been unable to pay the rent or ridership fees. In addition, restoration work on the 1309 steam engine has been slower than anticipated and is not yet operational. McKay acknowledges there have been some difficulties, but the challenges are being addressed and the future remains bright for the local tourist train…
