U.S. Rep. John Delaney has made several stops in far western Maryland in the past week to promote his ideas for job growth in the region. The Democratic congressman says he wants to draw attention to a bill in the state legislature to create “manufacturing development zones” and tax credits to encourage investment in new manufacturing plants. Delaney’s “western Maryland agenda” also includes fully funding local transportation needs, increased tourism promotion, helping farmers and improving rural broadband access. Delaney and legislators representing Garrett, Allegany and Washington County have written to Maryland state leaders addressing the needs and opportunities for economic growth in Western Maryland.
