Delay in Board Audit May Mean Fiscal Penalties for County

During a budget update Thursday afternoon, Allegany County Finance Director Jason Bennett pointed out that the board of education’s audit is not yet complete- and it’s looking more and more likely that the county may face some financial penalties from the state as a result. School Superintendent David Cox informed the county commissioners last month that the audit probably would not be wrapped up until after May 1st.  Bennett said the county is being notified on a regular basis that fiscal penalties will be forthcoming if the audits remain incomplete…
