Delegate Beitzel Fears That Regulations That Will Be Placed On Fracking Will Be Too Severe

Delegate Wendell Beitzel of Garrett County fears that the regulations and restrictions expected to be placed on hydraulic fracturing in Maryland may be so severe- potential businesses looking to drill will simply bypass the state altogether. The commission examining hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in Maryland is charged with trying to determine if — and how — the natural gas extraction practice can be done safely in the state.  Beitzel, a strong advocate for fracking and its potential creating a revenue stream of hundreds of millions of dollars for the region, told local business leaders that if environmentalists on the commission go too far- Maryland might be left out in the cold…
