Delegate Kevin Kelly says

July 15th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Kevin Kelly says that although there has been speculation to the contrary, the annual 9-11 Freedom Ride will not bypass Cumberland this year. Harlan Smith, the local contact person for the event, told WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” Thursday that some complaints in recent years about traffic backups and other issues there had been some indications from the State Highway Administration that the annual ride would no longer include Cumberland on its route…

Those concerns can be put to rest however. According to Delegate Kelly, a high ranking state highway official has assured him that the motorcycle ride marking the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States that begins in Shanksville, Pa., and ends the following day at Ground Zero in New York City will travel through the Queen City again this year.
