Delegate McKay May Be Reconsidering Seeking 2nd Term In House of Delegates

August 30th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Although he had previously announced that he would not seek a second term in the Maryland House of Delegates- Delegate 1C Mike McKay may be reconsidering. In May, McKay told WCBC News that the travel and time away from his family required by serving as a delegate led to his decision- and that he instead planned to make a run for the Allegany County Register of Wills seat. Rebecca Drew, after a criminal indictment, stepped down as Register and the Judges of Orphans Court last week appointed Mary Beth Pirolozzi to fill that vacancy. McKay was one of those interviewed- and he had hoped to secure the appointment- giving him more than a year on the job before next year’s election. Having lost that advantage- and now faced with a potential formidable opponent occupying the Registers office- McKay may re-visit running again for the 1C seat…
