Delegate Anthony O'Donnell, the Republican minority leader in the House of Delegates, says the governor’s latest plan to generate additional revenue for transportation projects demonstrates just how out of touch he is with most Marylanders. Governor Martin O'Malley said this week he supports levying a 6 percent sales tax on gasoline, phasing it in by 2 percent a year. The state already levies a 23.5-cent gas tax, and the sales tax proposal would be on top of that to generate new revenue for transportation infrastructure needs. The O'Malley administration said the proposal would raise the price of gas by about 6 cents a gallon in the first year, 12 cents in the second year and about 18 cents in the third year. O’Donnell says no matter how it is phased in- Marylanders simply can’t afford it….

O’Malley must go for Marylanders to go forward in this hard time. We can’t chase money away gas, cigarettes, flush, liquor, tax – tax – tax – that’s the easyway out! People must go out of state to afford these luxuries. That’s where we loose money. No one can afford Maryland cigarettes when there so much cheaper in WV. WV THANKS YOU, O’Malley – not Marylanders. YOU MUST GO!!! Instead of raising money for things like same sex marriage how about helping out by just going away!
