Delegation Strongly Opposes State Ban On Assault Weapons

All four members of the District One legislative delegation strongly oppose Governor Martin O’Malley’s push for a ban on assault weapons in Maryland.  The governor’s bill calls for a ban on assault weapons and requires a license for all weapons except for hunting rifles. State Senator George Edwards talked with WCBC News about the issue and noted that the city of Chicago has the most strict gun laws on the books and that gun violence is a major problem there. Although the control issue has become a national debate following the tragic shooting at a Connecticut elementary school in December, it may be a tough sell in Maryland.
