Dillsworth Gets 45 Years

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, along with the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, announced that on January 31, 2019, John Roland Dillsworth, of Cumberland, was found guilty of numerous felony and misdemeanor drug and firearm related charges, following a jury trial in the Circuit Court for Allegany County.

On July 23, 2019, the Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Circuit Court Judge for Allegany County, sentenced Dillsworth to 20 years’ incarceration for Possession with Intent to Distribute: Cocaine; 20 years’ incarceration for Possession of a Firearm in conjunction with a Drug Trafficking Crime; and 5 years’ incarceration for Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm. These sentences are to run consecutive, for a total of 45 years’ actual incarceration in the Maryland Department of Corrections.

The case was the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force into the distribution and sales of cocaine, prescription opioid pills, and marijuana in Allegany County.

The state was represented by Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel J. Lane. The defendant was represented by Sean M. Gallagher, Esq.
