Directors of All County Choruses Announced

Dr. Jeffrey Marlatt will conduct the 2015 All-County Senior Chorus on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, as part of the Allegany County Choral Festival, which will be held at Fort Hill High School beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Choral Festival is first in a series of festivals to be held during the 2015-2016 school year. Admission is free and open to the public. Dr. Marlatt will direct a choir of approximately 80 singers representing the three county high schools. The concert will consist of Powell’s Arise, Beloved, Call Me But Love by Silvey, A medley consisting of I Love You and What A Wonderful World, as well as Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars, arranged by Mac Huff. Dr. Marlatt is the Director of Music Education and Assistant Dean for Student Learning at Shenandoah Conservatory. He teaches undergraduate and graduate level choral/general music methods courses and music research courses. Martlatt joins the Conservatory faculty after eighteen years of teaching in elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate music programs in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. His teaching includes both public and independent school settings. He is a highly sought after guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator and presenter for various choral and music education activities across the country.

The 2015 All-County Junior Chorus will be led by Mr. Jason McFeaters and will feature a 100 plus member junior chorus performing multicultural literature, such as Carrickfergus and Kusimama, and Shalom Chaverim as well as renditions of Lousiana 1927 and It Takes a Village. McFeaters teaches at North Bethesda Middle School in Montgomery County, MD. In his twelve years at NBMS, Jason’s choral program has grown from 28 to over 250 singers, with choirs receiving superior ratings county and state choral festivals annually. His outstanding teaching has been recognized by the Gazette, Bethesda magazine, Washington Parent and the Grammy Foundation. In 2007, his students were selected to sing at the Strathmore Music Center with the Kings’ Singers. He is a frequent guest clinician and conductor throughout Maryland and is highly recognized as a performer across the country with some of the most reputable performing ensembles on the east coast. His accolades have been published in the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post.
