Dozens Arrested In Recent Weeks Due To Safe Streets Program

Dozens and dozens of arrests have been made in recent weeks and warrants are being served at a record pace due largely to the city of Cumberland’s Safe Streets program targeting numerous individuals’ wanted throughout the tri-state area. The assignment paired city police officers with the deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office in an effort to apprehend those wanted for past criminal offenses. Under the Maryland State Safe Streets’ model, the Cumberland Police Department — in conjunction with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and allied law enforcement agencies — is functioning in a unified strategy to reduce crime and improve the quality of neighborhoods.  Sheriff Craig Robertson tells WCBC News the early results have been tremendous…
