Drug arrest following theft

At approximately 12:14 p.m. on Friday, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Sheetz Store located on Virginia Avenue in reference to a theft.  Store employees observed a male subject steal items while inside the store.  A store employee advised the subject has exited the store and was last seen walking on Virginia Avenue.  A description of the suspect was provided and responding officers located the suspect on Virginia Avenue.  The suspect was identified as Douglas Wayne Black, age 47, Cumberland, MD.  Black was positively identified as the person who stole the items from Sheetz.

 

Black was searched incident to arrest and several controlled prescription pills and drug paraphernalia were located on Black.  It was also discovered that Black was wanted on a warrant out of Howard County, Maryland.

 

Black was transported to Police Headquarters for processing and was charged with theft, possession of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Black was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was held at the Allegany County Detention Center awaiting to be transported to Howard County, Maryland for the service of the warrant
