Drug arrest in downtown Cumberland

The Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, the Cumberland Police Departments C.E.R.T. Team and uniform members of the Cumberland Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant Saturday in the 600 block of N. Mechanic Street, Cumberland, MD.

        The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation of Eugene LaQuan Melvin, 26, Baltimore, for the distribution of crack cocaine in the Allegany County area. 

Located inside the residence was felony amounts of crack cocaine packaged for resale.  As a result of the investigation and the search warrant, Melvin was charged with the following:  

CDS: POSS W/I DIST: NARC

CDS: POSSESS-NOT MARIJUANA

       

Melvin was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.  After a bail review, Melvin was again held without bail.
