Drug operation leads to 19 arrests

 The Cumberland Police Department in conjunction with the Maryland State Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police Special Investigations Section, Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, and the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force worked a two day initiative on September 24th and 25th 2019 under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) Grant. The focus of the initiative is to target high intensity drug and crime areas with the intentions of dismantling trafficking. During the course of the operation Officers conducted four felony arrests, served ten arrest warrants, charged four people with Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, performed one search and seizure warrant,  had nineteen total arrests, conducted 40 traffic stops, performed twenty four K-9 scans, seized 9.7 grams of cocaine, 1,359 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of heroin, 7 suboxone strips, numerous opioid prescription pills, 1 handgun, and one vehicle. Names are not being released at this time due to on going investigations of illegal criminal activity.

 

This operation was a coordinated effort between The Cumberland Police Department in conjunction with the Maryland State Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police Special Investigations Section, Garrett County Narcotics Task Force, and the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer.
