On 10/03/13 at approximately 1700 hrs, Senior Trooper C. W. Miller of the Maryland State Police, Cumberland Barrack, was working traffic enforcement on E/B I-68 in the Frostburg area. S/Tpr. Miller stopped a White, Chevrolet Malibu with WV tag 7XD152, for a traffic violation. While talking with the occupants of the vehicle, S/Tpr. Miller detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Routine checks revealed the driver; Landon Shamier Garrett, 34 yoa, of Morgantown, WV had an open warrant for his arrest.
Shamier was placed under arrest and the passenger, Cheyann Ciarra Hammonds, 18 yoa, of Morgantown, WV was removed from the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted. The search yielded 1,500 (approximate street value of $40,000) stamp bags of heroin and 17 baggies (approximate street value of $840.00) of marijuana. Hammonds was also placed under arrest. Both were charged with Possession w/Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Heroin. Both were transported to the Cumberland Barrack for processing and then to the District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing. Garrett was held on $100,000 bond and Hammonds was held on $35,000 bond.
