Drugs arrests, breaking and entering and assault incidents make for a busy Friday for City Police

On August 2, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Arthur Tejeno Bunbasi Jr., age 21 of Cumberland, Maryland.  On August 1, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Jane Frazier Village for a domestic assault complaint.  During an investigation into the matter, officers learned that Bunbasi had assaulted a female and left prior to the officers arriving.  As a result of this incident, charges were filed resulting in a criminal summons being issued.  Bunbasi was served with the summons on this date and released pending a trial in District Court.

CDS Arrest

On August 2, 2019 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was on patrol in the area of First Street between Seymour Street and Grand Avenue when he observed a traffic violation.  The vehicle which was parked at the time was occupied by a male driver.  The officer contacted the driver and identified him as, Tarik Raheem Woods.  While the officer was speaking with Woods he noticed him to be nervous and further detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  During a probable cause search of the vehicle and Woods, the officer located marijuana, digital scales, a large quantity of currency and several additional items related to the use of marijuana.  Woods was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  After arriving at the station an additional search was conducted and Woods was found to be concealing another larger baggie of suspected marijuana.  Woods was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Woods was released on this own personal recognizance.

Charges: CDS possession with intent to distribute, CDS possession of marijuana and CDS possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Breaking and Entering Arrest

On August 2, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 639/641 Bedford Street for a reported breaking and entering in progress.  Prior to the officer’s arrival, they were informed of a white male suspect wearing a blue shirt and light colored pants.  As the officers arrived in the area, they observed the front window screen to be removed, the window open and two backpacks on the front porch.  After announcing their presence, a white male exited the residence and provided the officers with a fake name.  During an investigation into the property owner, the officers determined that the suspect they had was not the owner of the residence.  During a check of the backpacks found at the residence, officers found a prescription bottle with the name, Kevin John Corcoran.   Corcoran admitted to the officers that was his real name.  A check of Corcoran was conducted and officers found Corcoran to be wanted in the state of Florida and Baltimore City.  Florida would not extradite for the charges in their state.  Corcoran was taken into custody for the breaking and entering and the warrant out of Baltimore City.  Corcoran was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  Corcoran was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Corcoran was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

Charges: Burglary 4th Degree, False statement to an officer, fraudulent identification to avoid prosecution and Obstructing and Hindering.

 

Criminal Summons Served for CDS

On August 2, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Jodi Kay Kiddy, age 46 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The charges were issued after officers responded to the Park and Ride @ Route 220 on July 28, 2019 for a female passed out inside a vehicle.  When officers arrived they found Kiddy to be under the influence of Difluoroethane which is an intoxicant found in cans of dust off.  Inside the vehicle officers observed Kiddy holding one can of Dust Off and three additional cans unopened inside the vehicle.  Kiddy was not arrested on this date and charges were submitted.  Kiddy was served with the summons and released pending a trial date in District Court.

Domestic Assault Arrest

On August 2, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 108 Springdale Street for a domestic assault in progress.  Upon the officers arrival they made contact with a female victim.  While speaking with the victim, officers were told that Reginald Murray returned home and started an argument.  During the argument, Murray grabbed the female victim around the neck and began to choke her.  The victim told officers that she tried to yell for help but couldn’t as she was going unconscious.  Officers located Murray at the scene and placed him under arrest.  Murray was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Murray was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Murray was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Disorderly Arrest

On August 2, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the intersection of Walnut Street and Independence Street for male subject with no shirt on yelling in the middle of the street.  When officers arrived they found Jason Apollo Crabtree running around in the street yelling and screaming.  Crabtree who appeared to be under the influence of drugs failed to stop yelling when police contacted him.  Crabtree who disturbed the peace of numerous neighbors was placed under arrest.  Crabtree was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Crabtree was processed, and served with a criminal citation before being released.

Criminal Summons Served CDS

On August 2, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Jamal James Jennings, age 31 of Keyser, West Virginia.   The summons was issued after Jennings was arrested on July 22, 2019.  After Jennings was committed to the Allegany County Detention Center he was found to be in possession of a baggie of suspected crystal methamphetamine.  The substance which was concealed by Jennings was located by a Deputy prior to placement into the jail.  Jennings was served with the summons and released pending a trial in District Court.

Charges: CDS possession not marijuana and possession of contraband in a place of confinement. 

 

 

 

 

 

Criminal Summons served CDS

On August 2, 2019 Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Nicholas Craig Moreland, age 28 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The summons was issued after Moreland was arrested on July 29, 2019 by the Cumberland City Police.  During a search of Moreland incident to arrest, the officer located silver smoking device used to inhale a controlled dangerous substance.  Moreland was also found to be in possession of Suboxone a schedule 3 narcotic.  As a result of the incident, charges were applied for and issued by District Court.  Moreland was served with the summons and released pending a trial date in District Court.

Charges: CDS possession not marijuana.

 

Arrest Warrant/Obstructing Arrest

On August 3, 2019 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to a residence on Avondale Avenue for a report of a large disturbance.  Upon the officers arrival they located a large party in the area.  As officers were breaking up the party they contacted a male subject who was wanted through the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.  The subject who was known to officers gave a false name and tried to walk away from officers.  The subject, Isaiah Jeremiah Carlton, age 19 of Cumberland, Maryland was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.  Carlton was served with a grand jury indictment for felony distribution of CDS and charged with obstructing and hindering, and providing false identification.  Carlton was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Carlton was held in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Charges: Grand Jury Indictment for possession of CDS and Possession with the intent to distribute CDS.

Additional Charges: Obstructing and Hindering, Fraudulent identity to avoid prosecution.
