DUI effort leads to arrest

On Saturday evening and into the early morning hours Sunday, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Barrack in Cumberland conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol in Western Allegany County. As a result of the special patrol initiative, four Troopers stopped 18 vehicles, issued 8 citations, and 18 warnings. One subject was arrested for DUI. This weekend’s patrol initiative is just one of the various enforcement activities which are planned by local and state law enforcement agencies for the National “Checkpoint Strikeforce” initiative taking place during Labor Day weekend.
