Dump Truck Crash Closes I-70

On October 15th,2012 at 2:28PM , Troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack responded to a reported  personal injury crash on westbound Interstate 70 east of Beaver Creek Road , Washington County, Maryland.    

Upon arrival the investigation revealed that Devin Ray Repp of Clear Spring MD, 19 years old, was operating a 2002 Ford F-350 accelerating onto westbound  I-70 from the ramp of eastbound Route 40 in the area of Beaver Creek Road.  Repp lost control of the vehicle during acceleration causing the Ford F-350 to slide out of control on the wet pavement. The Ford F-350 entered lane 1 of westbound I-70 where it was struck by 1999 Sterling Dump Truck driven by William Thomas Jones, 46 years of age from Hagerstown MD. Jones swerved to avoid contact with the Ford however struck the Ford and Jones lost control of the dump truck causing the dump truck to overturn several times. Repp was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Jones was transported to Meritus Medical Center with non life threatening injuries

 Fire and EMS personnel from the Funkstown Fire Company and the Community Rescue Service along with the Washington County Sheriffs Department assisted on the scene.
