Early Morning Disturbance

June 27th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

On June 27, 2014 at approximately 2:53 a.m., the Cumberland Police were dispatched to Jane Frazier Village for a large disturbance involving fifteen or more subjects.  Once on the scene, officers observed a large crowd gathered around two male subjects engaged in a fight.  One of the subjects was identified as Christopher Platter and the other was a juvenile male.  As officers attempted to break up the fight, Platter fled into one of the nearby apartments.  Officers pursued Platter into the apartment at which time Platter barricaded himself in an upstairs room and attempted to escape from a window.  Officers were able to gain access into the room and were immediately assaulted by Platter.  Officers were able to subdue Platter after a Taser deployment.  Once handcuffed, Platter continued to resist and cause a disturbance in an attempt to incite the crowd.  Platter was provided medical attention by Western Maryland Health System and released to the custody of the Cumberland Police Department.  He was later taken for a bond hearing and held on $5,000 bond.

As a result of this same incident, Elizabeth M. Price was arrested and charged, as well.  She was later released on citations.
