Early morning Piedmont fire

Firefighters from throughout the area battled a fire in Piedmont early Saturday that spread to at least two structures. The Cumberland Times News reports the blaze on Third Street was reported just after 12:30 a.m. At 12:57, firefighters reported fire throughout the two structures. By 2:10 a.m., firefighters had brought fire in both structures under control and were extinguishing hot spots. Volunteer units from Piedmont, Keyser, New Creek, Burlington, Barton, Westernport and Ridgeley were dispatched to the scene. Crews from Bloomington and Midland were sent to the area as stand-by units. More than three dozen firefighters were on the scene. Units began returning to their respective stations around 3 a.m.
